Ingredients

Desired number of slices of good bacon. Thick bacon is my preference.

Cooking Instructions

Start preheating the oven to 400 degrees. 

 

Place bacon on a ovenproof pan. A cast iron griddle works best. Make sure the pan is deep enough that the drippings do not escape into the oven.  

 

Place pan in the oven. You do not have to wait until the oven is completely preheated.  

 

Depending on the thickness of the bacon as to how long it will need to cook. Usually about 30 to 45 minutes.  

 

About half way through turn the bacon once.  

 

Once the bacon has reached your desired doneness, remove from pan and serve.  

 

Be sure to collect the dripping as these will make great seasoning for bean and peas and just about anything else. Put the dripping in a jar with a lid, label as "Pork Butter" and store in the refrigerator once cooled.
