Hamburger Stroganoff

Ingredients

  • 1/4 C butter 
  • 1/2 C minced onions 
  • 1 garlic clove, minced 
  • 1 lb. lean ground beef 
  • 1 lb. mushrooms, sliced (I used 1 cup mushrooms, sliced) 
  • 2 tbsp. all-purpose flour 
  • 1 tsp. salt 
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper 
  • 1/4 tsp. paprika 
  • 1 10 1/2 oz. can condensed cream of chicken soup 
  • 1 cup sour cream 
  • chopped parsley, chives or dill for garnish (optional) 
  • hot mashed potatoes, chow-mein noodles, hot buttered egg noodles, rice or toast

Cooking Instructions

About 40 minutes before serving: 

In 12-inch skillet over medium-high heat, in hot butter, cook onion and garlic until golden, about 3 minutes. Stir in ground beef, mushrooms, flour, salt, pepper and paprika; cook, stirring often, until meat is browned, about 7 minutes. 

Stir in unduliluted soup; heat to boiling. Reduce heat to low and simmer 10 minutes to blend flavors. Stir in sour cream and heat (do not boil); (optional) sprinkle with parsley, chives or dill for garnish. 

To serve, spoon mixture over servings of hot mashed potatoes, chow-mein noodles, hot buttered egg noodles, rice or toast.
